A Work of Fiction

"Dude is she awake?" I asked my friend John. "Bro I have no idea" he replied. The situation I was in was not the best and I would never have dreamed of this happening to me. I asked myself why me? John and Charlie were somewhat unhappy with these circumstances but we could not do anything. A classmate of ours was drunk and faith brought us to her. We met up with her in a mall and then decide to chill with her. Somehow we ended up inside a bar near the mall. She began drinking and so did Charlie. John and I were against drinking and just sat in a corner while Charlie and the girl drank. I wanted to leave but Charlie was my ride home. Soon John left because his mom told him to go home and boy how I wanted to leave with him. When he left the crazy stuff happened. Charlie was sober but the girl went crazy. She started to run inside the bar and that made people around us angry. We did not know what to do and eventually made her go to the bathroom and wash her face with cold water. When she came back we called in a taxi so she could go home. It was a really rough night and then the next day we met her at school. She was embarrassed and apologized for what had happened. She agreed and said bye.

  1. Ayan: This seems more like a story summary than an actual story. You are telling me what happened, but you don't show me the details. For future stories, try to think about this activity as if you are painting a picture, full of lots of details rather than the accounting of a plot. Choose an interesting narrator, just like O'Brien does, and then describe what's going on in one scene rather than telling us what went on in several.

Make sense? This will take practice, but I'm confident you'll get it. Use O'Brien's work as a model, if you can.
